Gira HomeServer

The on-board computer for intelligent buildings

By upgrading the KNX system to include the Gira HomeServer, residents will not only reap the benefits of mobile technology control, but will also enjoy the full Gira experience with maximum convenience, security and energy efficiency. The on-board computer for the intelligent building connects the electrical installation for the KNX system with the computer network and the internet. This makes central control of smart building technology possible using a large number of operating devices, regardless of where the user currently is.

  • Easy control of complex systems – with the touch of finger
  • Straightforward integration of a large number of technologies such as door intercoms, cameras, audio systems and third-party systems for sanitary, kitchen and entertainment facilities
  • State-of-the-art interface available in white or black
  • Load nodes for scenes directly by URL
  • Clearly structured display of a floor plan with current lighting status, blind positions and window status information
  • Perform online tests and analyses of logics in the graphic logic editor
  • Straightforward integration of the DHCP communication protocol into the project and network settings

HomeServer updates

Regular updates of the Gira Expert start-up software and functions in the QuadClient ensure technology remains state-of-the-art, and increases convenience for users while also saving them time.

HomeServer update 4.12

  • Upgrade of the online logic test in the Expert software for an easy test of the logic in the startup phase
  • Free visualisation is supported by HTML5 technology
  • Addition of a Modbus module for the connection of PV arrays, for example.
  • Addition of a logic node for the connection of G1 functions (for example, a proximity sensor)
  • New combination DPTs (RGBW and TBW) added for Gira actuators.
  • Addition of personal backgrounds to the floor plan visualisation.

Voice control with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant

Building functions can also be used with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant via the Gira HomeServer using an IoT interface. To do this, simply set up the "Gira Smart Home" skill. In addition to the Gira HomeServer (from version 4.10.0), you will also need the Gira S1 for secure encryption and a corresponding device from Amazon (e.g. Amazon Echo) or Google (e.g. Google Home) for voice control. All devices must be fully set up and connected to the internet.

Incidentally: This skill can also be set up for the Gira X1.

Simple operation with the Gira Interface

With the Gira Interface, the user interface of the Gira HomeServer, controlling innovative building technology is child’s play. The menu navigation is clearly designed and intuitive. Any function can be reached within only two levels. Additional detailed information or operating elements are displayed directly in a pop-up window. This allows very convenient operation via touch screen – with just one finger. In addition, all the devices that can be used to control the building via the Gira HomeServer/FacilityServer possess a uniformly structured interface design. As a result, users won’t need to get used to a new menu navigation each time – and it doesn’t matter whether you’re using a Gira G1, a PC, a tablet or a smartphone. The user interface has been adapted to the particular screen sizes of the individual end devices for optimum usability. The Gira HomeServer offers the resident a high degree of flexibility with self-configurable if/then scenarios in the Gira HomeServer app. This makes complex things easy to control – any time and anywhere.
