Gira X1

The standard in the KNX Smart Home.

Switching lights on and off, moving blinds up and down, simulating presence, setting a pleasant temperature – anywhere in the building or remotely: the Gira X1 server makes automating and visualising a single-family homes, and in expanded form, even large apartment buildings, with a KNX system easier, more convenient and more economical than ever before. For users and residents this means greater convenience and security. Many functions can be monitored and controlled remotely when away from home. The space-saving, quick installation of the Gira X1 and the minimal effort needed for start-up and configuration with the free Gira Project Assistant (GPA) make the decision to opt for Smart Home technology much easier.

  • Simple start-up with the Gira Project Assistant (GPA)
  • Central control of lighting, blinds, heating, temperature control, media and IP cameras
  • Solve automation tasks with the GPA logic editor
  • Secure remote maintenance of the Gira X1 and the KNX system via the Gira S1
  • Presence simulation and scene storage
  • Connect to Alexa, Google Assistant, Sonos and Philips Hue
  • Simple, intuitive and data-secure operation via the Gira Smart Home App in combination with the Gira S1
  • Simple integration of the tado° wireless heating thermostat into the existing KNX system
  • Functionality can be expanded with software packages from the Gira App Shop

Gira X1 server – new update available.

The new update for the Gira X1 includes several useful new functions:

  • If a password is lost, TLS encryption for web queries from the X1 logic allows access to the Gira X1 server using the Gira Smart Home App and administrator rights
  • Activation of SD card functionality for developers of Gira X1 logic nodes
  • Property managers can define individual user names and passwords for new tenants
  • Extended API, particularly useful for large housing companies: whenever tenants change, simply reset the Gira X1 server to the status when the outgoing tenant first moved in, and also reset the Gira G1 to its default settings (ring tone, ring volume and voice volume).
  • Advantages for specialist electricians: fewer time-consuming and unprofitable visits to customers.

Gira X1 release with Modbus TCP/IP logic node

The most recent software update introduced a range of features for the Gira X1, including a Modbus TCP/IP interface as logic node. It allows PV systems, battery storage systems and heat pumps to be integrated into the KNX system, in addition to heating systems and charging stations. This opens the door for customers to integrate energy management solutions into their KNX-based Smart Home.

  • Various components integrated in the Gira X1, such as compatible photovoltaic systems, battery storage systems and heat pumps or heating systems, in addition to charging stations and energy meters.
  • Programming and a combination of synchronized logics

Gira X1 for larger projects.

The standard version of the compact Gira X1 server offers 250 functions and 1,000 data points – making it the perfect choice for a single-family home. With two fee-based software expansion packages available in the Gira App Shop, the Gira X1 server can also be used for larger and more extensive projects. If particular flexibility is required, it can be expanded to a maximum of 625 functions and 2,500 group address data points by purchasing both packages.

Mobile operation using the Gira Smart Home App.

New functions of the Gira Smart Home App for the Gira X1 server are constantly added for easy, intuitive and comprehensive operation of the KNX system. Users can thus customise their systems by themselves in the app and even save entire scenes. This means that there is no need for electrical specialists to carry out the adjustments, which not only saves time, but also allows them to focus on other projects.

Integrating IoT switches

Users can now integrate IoT switches themselves, for example in order to integrate third-party devices into the Smart Home App.

Parameters

End customers can, for example, customise feedback texts or change individual settings, such as the colour wheel of a function.

Clocks

With the new app update, all clocks can be adjusted or created from scratch. All time settings are visible at a glance.

Lighting control

Switch lights on and off, or dim them precisely to the desired setting: with the Gira Smart Home App, lighting can be controlled with maximum flexibility. Several switch and dimmer templates are available for different requirements.

Blind controller

Raising or lowering blinds or roller shutters, precisely positioning them at a predefined height, and moving slats into the desired position: users have everything under control with a mobile device – even when away from home.

Heating and air conditioning

The app can be used to control room temperature when combined with an appropriate KNX sensor. Desired temperatures can be called up using various operating modes such as Comfort or Night.

Functional overview

All of a building’s functions are displayed as tiles in the Gira Smart Home App. Central functions such as switching devices on and off, adjusting the temperature or dimming in fixed intervals can be performed directly within this view.

Calling up scenes

A perfect room ambience includes the right light, the ideal temperature and an appropriate privacy protection. The app allows the desired mood to be called up directly on a mobile device at the touch of a finger. End customers with admin rights can now create a scene themselves and add further scene variations to it. The electrician can also assign the scene created by the end customer to a button in the building.

Timers

Many functions can also be controlled via a timer. This allows certain functions to be triggered automatically every day or only on certain days of the week at a specified time. For example, the blinds can be automatically raised every morning and lowered again in the evening, or the heating automatically switched to night mode.

Value transmitter

Predefined settings control the blinds or heating: the value transmitter sends the values to the KNX system; the external devices can then evaluate them and perform the corresponding functions.

Camera monitoring

Be aware what’s happening at home – even when you’re away: the Gira Smart Home App can also transmit and display video images from IP cameras, for example. Perfect for that extra peace of mind.

Selecting a light colour

Select the appropriate light colour for each event and save your favourite colours. The colour selection of the X1 supports RGB and RGBW values. There is also another function for setting the colour temperature.

Controlling music

The Smart Home app allows you to control hi-fi systems via KNX. The main audio functions can be accessed directly from the app. These include: play/pause track, change volume, mute, switch between tracks, display track, artist, album and playlist, as well as switching between playlists.

The perfect indoor climate

With the “Air conditioning” function, it is possible to control an air conditioning system using the Gira X1. This enables you to switch between the different operating modes and setting the desired temperature, the level of ventilation, and direction of the air flow.

Assignment of subsystems

Functions performed in the Gira Smart Home App can now be assigned to a subsystem and thus appear directly in the subsystem overview. This was previously only possible in the GPA.

Integrating IoT switches

Users can now integrate IoT switches themselves, for example in order to integrate third-party devices into the Smart Home App.

Parameters

End customers can, for example, customise feedback texts or change individual settings, such as the colour wheel of a function.

Incidentally: this function can also be set up for the Gira HomeServer.

Wireless heating control with the Gira X1 server and tado°

A logic node in the Gira X1 server enables easy connection of smart tado° wireless thermostats, which means the KNX system can be expanded to include smart heating control with a geofencing function without requiring additional cabling or replacement of radiators. Fast, future-proof and energy-conscious, it can also be easily retrofitted.
