Gira bakes Christmas biscuits.

As passionate as we are about working on our exciting new products for "Light + Building" next March, the scent of candles, cinnamon, freshly baked biscuits, hot mulled wine and fir greenery here in Radevormwald is a reminder that the Christmas season has begun and the turn of the year is approaching. This is the time when we all consciously slow down and calm down. The time when we can devote ourselves fully and completely to those who are dear to us. The time that traditionally invites us to focus on being with and for each other, shared experiences, family and friendships - such as baking Christmas biscuits together.

Baking together for a good cause.

We at Gira are not only good at innovation. Good, shared traditions also have their place with us. This year, for example, we have taken up the tradition of Christmas baking within our own four walls. With the active support of our Gira Bistro Manager, our trainees diligently mixed and rolled out dough during Advent, cut out over 2,000 biscuits, baked them and dusted them with icing sugar to distribute them to the Radevormwald lunch table: a little treat for people in our immediate neighbourhood who need our support.

Glowing eyes.

The "Christmas miracle" has also been a tradition at Gira for eight years. Every year, a team of our trainees ensures that people who do not spend Christmas with their family and loved ones still feel that someone is thinking of them and giving them a little joy. This year, the residents of two care facilities for senior citizens and two children's homes in the Bergisches Land region will receive presents. Our junior staff collected wish lists there so that our colleagues could fulfil the little wishes written on them: Our trainees were able to hand over around 300 colourfully wrapped parcels this year. And thus ensure many smiling faces and shining eyes.

Gira helps.

The Gira Christmas donation is another tradition that our company has long maintained in order to support local, national and international initiatives and charitable organisations that provide a valuable service to our community with their respective work. This year, these include four food banks in the Bergisches Land region, Aktion Lichtblicke and Doctors Without Borders.
