Automated Shading - MAHO LABS

The shading automation controls blinds, shutters and awnings based on sun position, brightness and temperature. Slat angles follow the sun's elevation: flat when the sun is high, steeper when it is low. Direct sunlight is blocked while as much daylight as possible still enters the room. The node moves through five states – open, waiting for sun, shading, waiting for shadow position, and shadow position. Three separately adjustable delays prevent constant repositioning in changing cloud cover. Once the sun has gone, the blind first moves to a configurable shadow position before opening fully.

Key features
• Slat tracking: limit angle and tilt angle are calculated from slat width and spacing; alternatively a fixed slat value can be set externally.
• Delay logic: separate delays for activation in sunshine, deactivation in shade and opening from the shadow position.
• Shading condition based on sun elevation, sun azimuth (including wrap-around across 0°/360°), brightness threshold and enable signals for outdoor and indoor temperature.
• Override with fixed priority: lockout, forced position, timed closing and dusk, each with configurable behaviour.
• Send filter with threshold and optional cyclic sending to reduce bus traffic.
• Outputs for blind position, slat position, shading active, plus a plain-text state and detailed diagnostics.
