Improved energy efficiency with smart consumption control

With modern energy management, intelligent building technology from Gira not only helps to save power; it protects the environment too. The seamless interaction of the functions means energy consumption is reduced to a minimum and coordinated exactly to the individual requirements of the household. Clear diagrams let you conveniently check all the consumption values at any time and quickly make adjustments as needed. In this way, occupants permanently lower their energy costs – while at the same time enhancing their living comfort.

Centralised energy management

The more efficient use of energy plays a key role in times of rising energy costs. As an interface between the building technology and the computer network, the Gira HomeServer enables central control and monitoring of energy consumption within the household. Thanks to the smart interaction of various functions and devices, as well as time-dependent and needs-based control, it helps to ensure that energy is only used precisely when and where it is needed. Not only does this save you money, it also protects the environment.

Comprehensive heating control

Window open, heating off: The system detects when a door or window is opened by means of door and window contacts. After a defined period of time, the heating is automatically turned down in the corresponding room. The heating is not turned up until all windows and doors are closed. This prevents unnecessary heating, whilst ensuring that rooms always remain sufficiently heated.

Perfect interaction of blinds and heating

The sun’s energy can be intelligently integrated into the temperature control system by means of the perfect interaction of blinds and heating. This means that when the sun is in a favourable position in winter, the blinds are raised and the amount of heating is reduced accordingly. In contrast, unnecessary energy consumption can be prevented in summer by means of blinds automatically lowering in good time and the air conditioning reducing its output for this purpose.

Energy-efficient single-room control

A separate profile that specifies the times at which heating or ventilation is to take place can be created for each room. For example, the bathroom can always be heated in the mornings and evenings. The temperature can also be regulated using the Gira pushbutton sensor 3 Plus if you decide you would like a different setting. The result is temperature control that is economical and adapts precisely to the occupants’ needs, meaning that heating and ventilation never run unnecessarily.

Needs-based temperature control

With temperature sensors and servo motors on the heating valves, the system detects if the available flow temperature is too high or too low. Depending on the average outdoor temperature, this can then be adapted accordingly. The Gira HomeServer therefore ensures optimum energy utilisation throughout the entire building all year long, all the while preventing unnecessary costs.

Automatic lighting control

Presence and motion detectors ensure that lights are automatically switched on just when they are needed. If no motion is detected for a certain time, the light switches itself off again. In combination with brightness sensors, the intensity of the light can also be customised: If the sun is shining into the room more strongly, the light intensity is automatically reduced.

Cost-cutting central cut-off function

In the entrance area, all the power-intensive devices can be switched off at the touch of a button using the central cut-off function. This guarantees that electricity is not consumed unnecessarily. The central cut-off function can optionally be connected directly to the locking system: if the door is locked from the outside, the devices are also powered down.

Precise consumption control

The Gira HomeServer continuously records and stores operating and consumption data for electricity, water, gas or heating oil. Trends can be easily tracked throughout the whole year by means of clear diagrams, which can be viewed on a PC, tablet, or even touch panels from third-party manufacturers. If significant deviations from average consumption occur, this is quickly detected with the energy module. This allows energy management to be easily optimised and adapted to meet individual requirements.
